Volunteers
We urgently need committed LONG-TERM (at least 4 weeks) Volunteers to live at the Center, who are willing and able to support SCAO and Mr. Samith in the daily Management of the project, attendance of interested visitors and fund raising activities.
How to apply?
Save Poor Children in Asia Organization (S.C.A.O.) relies heavily on volunteers who come to our center to teach English, bring supplies, or donate. We are currently looking for more long-term volunteers to help with ongoing projects, teach English, care for the children and be a part of the SCAO family. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us by email, phone or just stop by!

Main Activities
• Currently 17 orphans live at the center.
• About 90-100 children from the village attend four English classes per day (taught mostly by volunteers). Classes are held at the center from Monday to Saturday (7h30-10h, 14h-15h30, 17h30-18h30 and 18h30-19h30)
What can you do to help?
S.C.A.O. is a newly established organization (December, 5 2007) and needs help in many different areas:
- Teaching English: We need English speakers to help teach multi-level classes. Come and watch one of the lessons first, then try teaching one yourself. The children are very enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Helping around: You can play with the kids, help with various building projects, design displays, fundraise, etc. Anything that benefits the orphanage is a great help. All ideas are welcome.
- Bring essential products: Rice, fruits and other foods (preferably not sweets or candies), hygiene products, English-teaching books, notebooks, writing and painting equipment, games and toys, children's clothes, shoes, bags, etc.
- Financial donations: Donations are the orphanage's main source of income and are imperative to its survival. Any contribution, no matter how small, is a great help.
- We are building a library at the Center: We request all visitors and volunteers to bring books to SCAO.
- Teaching Computer Skills: Our computer learning center will be set up by the end of January
TIP: You can buy rice around the corner from the Center. It is much cheaper.
How to get there?
The Child Care and Learning Center is located in the village of Boeng Chhouk, just 15 minutes north of Phnom Penh by Tuk-Tuk. You can also ask to be dropped off at the public school, which is right next door to the orphanage.
