JEY VIRAK: Jey Virak was born on 12th of November 1995. He is an orphan from Prevehea Province. He has 1 elder Sister. He came to S.C.A.O in December 2009. We hope that he will be able to start grade 5 in 2010. Eager to learn, he has started attending English classes twice a day and picking the language up extremely fast! At the moment he is waiting for a supporter that will enable him to attend primary school.
PON: Pon was born on 10th of May 1995 in Prevehea province. He has 3 sisters and 3 brothers. He came to S.C.A.O in December 2009. His comes from a poor family background and due to the fighting with the Khmer Rouge his father has lost one leg. He is currently studying 5th Grade in Primary School. He is training very hard to improve his English after school. S.C.A.O is looking for a kind sponsor to continue his studies at Primary School.
LEE MAI: Lee Mai was born on 15th November 2004. She is Nita’s younger sister. She also has 1 elder brother who lives with the family in the Takeo Province to support their parents. She is the youngest female child who lives with the S.C.A.O. We hope she will be able to start attending Primary School in 2010. We are searching for a sponsor for her schooling.
NGORL: Ngorl was born on 3rd of April 1994 in Kampong Tom Province. He has 1 sister and 4 brothers. His father was killed whilst fighting against the Khmer Rouge and his mother can no longer afford to send Ngorl to a High school. Thanks to S.C.A.O. he is currently attending High School in the 9th Grade. He is studying very hard and helps with the English classes after school. S.C.A.O. is looking for a kind sponsor to continue his studies at High School.
LY: Ly was born on 14th of July 1999 in Takeo Province. He has 1 sister and 3 brothers and his family is under severe financial distress. S.C.A.O. has made it possible for him to start Primary School in 2008. Currently in his 3rd year in Primary School, we are seeking a sponsor to continue his schooling.

SAVANDRED: Savandred is an orphan. He was born on 19th of February 1990 in Takeo Province and has 2 sisters. He is the oldest of the children who live with the S.C.A.O. A generous donation from one of our volunteers has made it possible for him to attend an internship learning to repair cell phones. S.C.A.O hopes this will equip him with the skills to be independent in the near future.
SREY LIA: Srey Lia was born on 23th of November 2001. She is Mr. and Mrs. Samith´s child and the elder sister of Chin Long. Playful Srey Lia is attending 3rd Grade in Primary School and S.C.A.O. is looking for a sponsor to continue her schooling.
NITA: Nita was born on 13th of November 1996 in Takeo Province. She is Lee Mai’s elder sister. She has also 1 older brother who stays with the parents to help them on the field. A very bright child, she is currently in her penultimate year of Primary School. With your kind donation, Nita will be able to finish her Primary School to begin High School.
SREY LAT: Srey Lat was born on 5th of January 1991 in Takeo Province. She has 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Her father died when she was young and her mother could not afford to send Srey Lat to High School. She has been living at the Centre since S.C.A.O. opened its doors and now attends 11th Grade at the High school. Srey Lat has an exceptional command of English and provides invaluable help to the Centre by teaching English in her spare time. She wants to become an English teacher in the S.C.A.O. Education and Learning Centre after her studies. S.C.A.O is searching for a sponsor to help completing her High School and to send her to study English at Phnom Penh University.
RA: Ra was born on 4th of May 1994 in Kampong Cham Province. His father passed away leaving Ra and his 2 sisters and 1 brother. Thanks to a private donation, he began a motorbike mechanic apprenticeship in December 2008. S.C.A.O hopes that upon completion he will be able to share his skills in the future Motorbike Project at the S.C.A.O. Education and Learning Centre with other young people in Cambodia in need to enable them to make a living. This apprenticeship lasts 18months and costs $300.
LI: Li was born on 7th July 1997 in Kompong Speu Province. He has 1 sister and 2 brothers. His home village is situated in one of the most remote areas of Cambodia where there is little access to education. A diligent and well-mannered child, S.C.A.O currently funds his Grade 5 Primary School education. We are looking for a sponsor for his future education.
LEM: Lem was born on 13th of March 1996 in Takeo Province. She has 1 sister and 2 brothers. Her father passed away and her mother could not afford to send her three children to school. The second eldest girl in the Centre, she is very considerate and helps with the daily chores and looking after the younger children. S.C.A.O. has made it possible for Lem to continue her education. Currently attending Grade 4, we hope that with your help she will be able to finish Primary School.
CHIN LONG: Chin Long was born on April Fool’s Day 2007. He is Mr. and Mrs. Samith´s second child and Srey Lia’s younger brother. A strong and boisterous child, he provides constant entertainment in the home. He is the youngest child in the Centre.
SEYMA: Seyma was born on 22nd of December 2002 in Kratie Province. His father died in 2007. His mother is looking after his other 2 brothers and could not send him to school. With the help of S.C.A.O. he is now happily attending Primary School in the 1st Grade. We are looking for a sponsor for his schooling
SEYHA: Seyha was born on 16th of May 1990 in Takeo Province. He is Srey Lat’s elder brother. He came to S.C.A.O. in October 2008 to help constructing the new Education Center. As his family cannot afford to finance him to learn a vocational skill, he asked to stay at the S.C.A.O. Center. S.C.A.O. is now looking for a Sponsor for him to attend a general mechanic apprenticeship. In the future, it is hoped that he will be able to work in the S.C.A.O Education and Learning Centre teaching his skills to others and be self sufficient. The duration of the apprenticeship is 4 years and cost $550.
LEAP: Leap was born on the 15th of March 2000 in Takeo province. He has no siblings due to his father’s death which took place just weeks after his birth. He was raised by his mother Poly, which is the center’s cook and a welcome help for Mrs. Samith in raising the young children in the center. Both Leap and Poly joined the S.C.A.O. family in March 2009 so that Leap will be able to attend primary school. As the newest member of the family Leap found his place in the group with remarkable ease. With a permanent smile on his face he explores the world around him with never ending curiosity and an outstanding ability to learn new skills at record braking speed. Eager to learn, Leap has started attending English classes twice a day and at the moment is waiting for a supporter that will enable him to attend primary school.
SOM HOY: Som Hoy was born on 15th of July 2000 in Oddar Meanchey Province. She has 6 brothers. She came to S.C.A.O. during the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia in September 2008 when various public schools in the area of her home village were closed for security reasons. In her spare time, sweet Som Hoy helps with looking after the younger children. She is attending Primary School in the 3rd Grade. We are still searching for a Sponsor for her.
HOM: Hom was born on 16th of May 1991 in Kompong Tom Province. He has one sister and 4 brothers. His father was killed whilst fighting against the Khmer Rouge. He has been living in S.C.A.O. since December 2008 in order to continue his studies at High School. After High School he would like to study medicine and provide health care at the S.C.A.O. Centre. We are looking for a Sponsor to fund his medical education at Phnom Penh University
DIN: Din is around 20 years old. His father was killed in the fight against the Khmer Rouge. He worked as a motor driver in Phnom Penh before coming to S.C.A.O. at the end of 2008 where he now helps with maintenance works and learns English. He would like to learn the skills of a motorbike mechanic with a view to teach in the future Motorbike Project at the S.C.A.O. Education and Learning Centre. This apprenticeship lasts 18months and costs $300.
