Meet Carole Ricco

Here is Carole,
I’m from Italy but I’ve been living in England since two years ago when I decided to move and learn English dreaming to be able to communicate with many people as possible around the world, exchange cultures, religions, traditions, believes, and way of thinking.

I experienced living in community (involving sharing skills, helping each other, living I sustainable way).

I always believed, business and money making lifestyle is not the option. At times it kills morals and it makes you forget you are a thinking, creative human being, who can easily find an alternative way to make out a modest living following dreams, belief and passions.

I have found out what really makes me happy and it is join art and sustainable way of living helping people in need.

This is why I ended up in S.C.A.O. (Save poor children in Asia organization), by the end of this month it will be a month since I started here. I have been teaching English as foreign language in classes which host up to 174 children from the village and surroundings areas near Phnom Penh.

The children who attend the classes have no financial possibility to study and consequently no prosperous future because their families are not able to provide the most important things such as education and even health care. There are many children in need all over Cambodia, with many kind hearted people wanting to support, donate and offer their time.

S.C.A.O. is an orphanage which gives shelter and food to 20children coming from really poor families and with sad backgrounds.

During my staying in S.C.A.O. I’ve found a way to involve the children in art and craft activities (making cards and carnival masks) knowing how important is to develop a child creativity and imagination.

I made these cards when I understood the messages they were sending me with their mannerism, not using many words, expressing those values, just being, through games and their eyes.

I used abstract art to express those feelings, wrote those messages seeking for a way out of poverty, for support, spreading the word, willing to exchange opinions on how to achieve this really common dream, which is a better future for everybody.
