  • About

The Save poor Children in Asia Organization, S.C.A.O., is a Cambodian non-profit, non-government organization.

It consists of two main ideas:
    1. Education
    2. Community Services

Our director, Mr. Sath Sameth is Cambodian and we have several Cambodian staff members. Nevertheless we are a volunteer-based organization and are always looking for long-term volunteers to support our English classes and Computer lessons.

  • Our Mission

Cambodian children are among the world’s most deprived and abused. They suffer the misfortune of being born in a country with one of the highest rates of child prostitution, domestic violence and child labor in the world today.

Public schools, although ostensibly free, are outside the means of many of Cambodia’s poor. Whether due to family size, disability or disease, many parents need their children to earn an income or supervise their siblings. Education remains beyond their reach.

    Surveys

Here at SCAO we aim to conduct the surveys in as many households as possible in order to gain a better understanding of the workings of the village. With this data and information collected we will be able to get a better understanding of the village’s needs. We can then aim our projects towards these […]

    Water Filters

Water is a fundamental human need. It is estimated that one person needs 10-40 litres of clean, safe water a day for drinking, cooking, washing, and personal hygiene. Access to clean water is a step towards improving living standards. Education suffers when sick children miss school. Economic opportunities are routinely lost to the impacts of […]

    Toilets

As a result of the household survey carried out by our Development Officer from SCOOP, Peter, we discovered that the poorest families in Som Roung did not have access to a toilet. Instead they use open land and this can result in several health problems. This is one of the biggest community development projects that […]

This partnership has been taking place since 2013 and is an ongoing project. What are the benefits of Mosquito Nets? A mosquito net offers protection against mosquitos flies, and other […]

The recipients are invited to one of our schools where they collect their packages and we also arrange a small information session. This […]

    Human Trafficking Awareness

On the 24th of January 2013 SCAO collaborated with The Somaly Mam Foundation to present workshops on awareness of human trafficking to the children in SCAO II. It is these children who are the most vulnerable to human trafficking because of their location and age. It is therefore very important to educate them of the […]

  • Creating a Personal Profile

Getting creative with the Pre-Intermediates at SCAO1 The task: Express yourself by creating your own profile. When the students heard about that task they were all super excited.
